PROGRAM COORDINATOR, MIT BRAZIL PROGRAM Center for International Studies, to recruit, educate, and train future scientists, engineers, and managers for internships in Brazil. Will help to develop curricula to train interns in the Brazilian culture as preparation for placement in host institutions; plan and facilitate an annual intern retreat; organize cultural events for the MIT community; and maintain close contact with the host institutions, making annual visits to ensure the quality of the internship arrangements and expand the pool of partners. Will also help place Brazilian researchers who wish to come to MIT as visiting fellows; support the directors and the selection committee in their work of identifying visiting fellows; plan, carry out, and ensure the best possible flow of information about MISTI programs and events to interested parties; and oversee an annual intern program budget and develop new sources of program funding. Office tasks include daily interaction with students, faculty, administrators, and host companies abroad; managing program accounts; and training student employees.

REQUIREMENTS: an M.A. or M.S.; a minimum of two years’ professional experience with Brazil; excellent command of written and spoken Portuguese and English; good cross-cultural communication, networking, and negotiation skills; and knowledge of Brazil’s corporate world, higher education, and research systems. Experience in an engineering or science setting desirable. Ability to work as part of a larger team essential; as is the ability to prioritize tasks, schedule and account for complex intern travel arrangements, schedule meetings, and manage multiple tasks under pressure. Skill using Microsoft Office applications required. Knowledge of FileMaker Pro a plus, as is experience updating and maintaining web sites. MIT-00006446
