Now, more than ever, job seekers must acquire the skills they need to give them a competitive edge. Employers seek candidates whose resumes stand out due to their experience, insight or first-rate academic experiences. As a graduate of Christie’s Education, New York, you’ll embark on your career path equipped with all these attributes and more.
Christie’s is the only major auction house in the world that directly runs educational courses at the Master’s and Certificate levels. We train our students to understand the art world from the value of an individual object to the arch of a market trend. We match that kind of educational breadth with intellectual depth by equipping our graduates with the real-world skills they will need to succeed in today’s highly competitive art world. Every year our alumni begin successful careers at some of the world’s most prestigious cultural institutions. Join them – learn more about what we have to offer and hear what they have to say here.
We are now accepting applications for the following programs beginning in September 2010:
Master of Arts in Modern Art, Connoisseurship and the History of the Art Market: This 15-month program focuses on the history of modern and contemporary art in Europe and the United States from 1850 to the present.
• Internship Program: A required internship allows students to gain the practical skills that will prepare them for a career in the art world. Christie’s Education helps students secure their internship by proposing a wide range of sites, including departments at Christie’s auction house, commercial galleries, museums, corporations, non-profit arts institutions and more.
• Professional Practices: This weekly panel brings students into contact with private dealers, gallerists, lawyers and critics. This course examines the structure of the art market as a business and introduces students to its key players, issues and terminology.
• Weekly field studies give students behind-the-scenes access to art production and conservation facilities, museums, private collections and artists’ studios.

• The Certificate program curriculum matches the needs of beginning collectors. Our Modern Art Survey course, Certificate Seminar, and Professional Practices panel provides the right balance of art history, connoisseurship skills, and exposure to the larger New York art world.
• The Certificate program is also geared toward returning professionals who are looking to apply previously acquired professional skills in an art world setting.
