Uganda workshop to train on documentary filmmaking

Aspiring East African video journalists can apply to attend a 10-day intensive workshop on the fundamentals of documentary filmmaking in Kampala, Uganda. Deadline: August 6.

Participants of the Documentary Filmmaking Lab will spend four days watching and analyzing documentary film and learning the basics of production. They will then be divided into groups of four so they can shoot and edit their own short documentary films.

The Lab will be held October 1 to October 12. Selected participants will be notifed by September 13. The Documentary Filmmaking Lab is a partnership between Maisha Film Lab and renowned educators Josh Gibson and Gary Hawkins of the Duke University Center for Documentary Studies in the U.S.

All final participants are responsible for travel costs to Uganda.
