Applications are now open for the new Berlinale Residency programme!
The Berlinale Residency offers six directors from around the world the opportunity to come to Berlin for four months to work on a feature-length fiction or documentary film or cross-media project, to prepare and package these projects for the international market.
Rooted in the Berlin International Film Festival, one of the largest audience film festivals in the world, the Berlinale Residency supports filmmakers with feature projects in the development stage to maximize the market potential of their films and define their audiences, without limiting the creative qualities of the stories they want to tell. The programme offers active participation and input of passionate and widely experienced industry professionals, and aims to bridge the gap between high-quality cinema projects and audiences.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Eligible are directors who have a producer attached to their project and
who have already directed a feature-length film which screened in the official selection of a renowned international film festival (e.g. Berlinale, Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, Venice etc.)
have finished a film which
– was presented at the Berlinale Co-Production Market; or
– participated in the Berlinale Talent Campus’ Script Station, Doc Station or Talent Project Market; or
– was supported by the World Cinema Fund.
