As a follow up to “Story-Based Inquiry: A Manual for Investigative Journalists” (UNESCO 2009), UNESCO will publish an online casebook of 20 to 25 previously published investigative stories for use as teaching material. Stories should deal with subjects either overlooked or deliberately hidden from public view. Ideally, stories will be between 2,000 and 5,000 words, and should be in English.

The Film & Electronic Arts Program at Bard College is searching to fill an open rank visiting professor position, beginning August 2011 for a filmmaker/media artist to teach writing for film, with a broad and inclusive approach, which may include: scriptwriting, research, dialogue, storytelling, documentary and/or essay forms. This curriculum will be integrated into our Program of film and video production and the history of film.

he successful candidate is a scholar and/or critic with a strong record of national and international publications in modern and contemporary art with expertise in avant-garde and interdisciplinary practices, such as architecture and design; film, video and new media; and/or performance, dance and sound. Additional requirements are a commitment to teaching from global perspectives as well as five years experience teaching within a studio practice environment or an integrated practice and theory environment.

Members of NYU Abu Dhabi’s standing faculty receive generous support for research and travel. The teaching load is three undergraduate courses per year (semester system), including at least one in the core curriculum. Other terms of employment are competitive compared to U.S. benchmarks and include housing and educational subsidies for children.
